Questions couples ask us
Can foreign couples legally marry in Spain?
Yes, with conditions. A Spanish civil wedding requires at least one partner to be Spanish or legally resident in Spain, so most international couples complete the legal formalities at home and celebrate in Andalusia. A Catholic church wedding is possible for non-residents with the paperwork from your home parish, which we help coordinate.
What is the difference between a symbolic and a legal ceremony?
A legal ceremony is the official marriage, registered by the state or church. A symbolic ceremony carries no legal paperwork, which means it can happen anywhere (an olive grove, a palace garden, a beach at dusk) and be written entirely around you, led by a celebrant in your language. Most of our couples sign at home and hold a symbolic ceremony here.
What are the best months to get married in Andalusia?
May, June, September and early October are ideal: long golden evenings and warm, comfortable temperatures. July and August suit the coast and evening celebrations, as inland cities like Seville can be very hot. Late October and spring are beautiful for intimate weddings.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend 12 to 18 months ahead for weddings in peak season, as the finest haciendas and our own calendar (twelve weddings a year) fill early. Intimate celebrations can sometimes be composed in six to nine months.
How many visits to Andalusia will we need?
Usually one planning trip, ideally 9 to 12 months before the wedding, to see venues, taste the menu and meet key suppliers. Everything else is handled remotely through video calls and a shared planning journal. Some couples plan without any visit at all.
